Difference

Difference in Books

From my research I have many websites and even books which give me a good select range of each of the different styles of books. But none are close to the amount on this page alone.

If I wanted to create a website so people could click on any type of book and have a list of authors who have done books in that category then this would be it.
I have collected a vast amount of titles just from this one page in the way of trying to find a selection of books to get information from. This website has been one of the most us full pieces I have found because of the sheer amount of books that have been posted on here.

There are thousands of different illustrator styles in children's book and none which are neither unimportant nor important. But having such a broad range of difference I have collected lots of images which I can know look at and see what style I would like to have in my book.

Picture Books

Pictures Books

Picture books are some of the bestselling in children’s books history. This is a huge market which has lots of different styles and methods of completion to create their books.
It flooded with so many books at lots of age ranges that it’s a difficult thing to create something which is unique and not an ordinary approach to a child's book.

A way to get some different styles into my head of what has been done before is to look at lots of different books which are in the picture book category. There are many websites which do this as there are equal amounts of books in this field. One of my favourite websites was this one as this has some of the best in the business and all with pictures and links to their books.

Just on this one page there is 100 of the top designed and well written books ever. And luckily they are mostly all different styles in each book, so I now have a broad range of what my children's book may look on the in and outside.

This is another website which gives you different examples of childrens books. But there is a difference with this page and that is that this has a much detailed description of the types of books.
This page also has examples of some of the more populer books which are in each type of book.

I like this website as it gives you a really good insight into what you book could be along side with different examples, which is allways helpful in any research task.

Types Of Books

Designing a book is difficult as you have to take into consideration on what style you may want in terms or the illustrations and font. You also have to contend with what age range you are aiming a book at with the style you will be using.
There is another point to contend with, and this is what style of book you have to choose. You are able to choose from a picture book to an educational book and even choosing a colouring book. This is a critical point to how you communicate the information you will be putting across.

This is a website explaining different types of books you are able to choose from and why you may want to use them.
I found this very useful as they are more types of book that I was able to choose from. Picture books are some of the more popular books with the younger children and colouring book with the little older child.

Types of Children’s Books

Children’s Book Just as there are genres for adult readers, many types of children’s books have appeared over the years. These vary in types of stories, illustrations and interaction with the readers. Following is a descriptive list of these types, as well as the sub-genres within each group. The information provided here is adapted from my studies in my Literature for the Young Child class, taught by Dr. John Cech.

Parents

Pareants and Websites For There Children

From my research i have found that parents are very protective on what kids look at when they are not in control. This is apparent when kids are eithier reading off a website or books.
This is mainly because of the growing nature of inopropiate material online and books which are sold as jokes.

Checking content of anything first is a great way to combat this so your child is not subjected to innopropiate material.
The website i have including in this piece of research is the top 20 websites for children chossen by adults that include informational content, learning outcome and ghilds tv programmes news. This is so that if you are a parent you know that your child is going onto a website which is safe for them.

I will be taking this type of thinking in my final book design as i will be osting it into a survey asking parents if they would allow there child to read the content.

Illustrator

Jeff Szuk

This is another illustrator which I have been looking at as he has also done children's book front covers. I have not found this often in illustrators I have been looking at. They normally always been using pictures they have drawn just for the inside of the book not the front cover.

Having to create an image which has to seal the book and almost tell a little bit of the story is a very hard thing unless it says something like "daffy the duck". From there it’s as simple picture to draw as it comes to mind straight away. But this designer has done both which is a great trait to have these days.

He illustrations are drawn all in hand and are detailed in there look. He uses a few different medium like water colour and crayons to colour in his images. This shows a different way to his workings. I like his method as it does take some time but the end outcome is a friendly one for children to look at and read around and the colours art to bright or heavy.

Simple Design

AMS Digital Design

Digital design is something that I have been interested in straight from the beginning as this is a technique that I am familiar with. There is only one difficulty with this is that the method of drawing is foreign to me. So I needed to find a way of learning how to create images digitalis but use the skills I already process.
I found this company who do just that; there illustrations are all done on illustrator and published in this way as well. There work is very cleaning cut and precise in its approach but appealing to kids with the funny nature of each of the images used. This is a technique which I want to carry on and try out the future of my designing.
I have learnt a lot just from looking at lots of their work on how they have created there pieces and what methods they have used.
I will carry on their work in the same way but I will defiantly be using the method of having the characters being a cheerful and happy bunch. This is so a child can relate to the pictures used.
