Dave Titas

1.            Why have you chosen this illustrator?
I have chosen this illustrator as his isn’t just a person who design books for children his also do commercial project including advertising. Character designs are his speciality and his work is a unique one by using out of proportion characters. I like his work as you are able to aim it at any audience and they will still recognise his work.
2.            Provide a description of their art style as well as their published work
to date.
The way he uses light perspective drawing is one of his major features. Having small white patches to highlight a curved area of a face for instance is something he is great at doing as it gives his work a 3D feel. He uses a bright and colourful set of techniques as well and large scale head of his characters compared with the rest of the bodies.
3.            Suggest an age range that you think the art style is aimed at and explain your choice.
His age range is primarily for young kids around the age of five but you are able to see each of his workings go for an older audience. I think this because some of the stuff is bold and is presented as an almost fun way of drawing. He has worked with children’s packaging and logo design as well and designing characters for children’s books and this makes him more commercial across and larger age range.
